Cell surface receptors are important in immunity for recognition of pathogenic microbes, regulating cellular responses, cellular adhesion and intercellular communication. My studies have focused on interactions of proteins at the cell surface, and how they activate cellular responses to pathogens and regulate of immune responses. Specifically, I’ve been interested in a family of Fc receptor-like proteins (FCRL), and their role in regulating humoral immune responses in humans. Recently I’ve expanded this focus to include select members of the CD2-family, analysing their protein-protein interactions in human NK cells, and investigating their roles in the activation of innate immunity.
