An overview of molecular imaging: from macroscopic to microscopic level

Dr Bangwen Xie (Cancer Research UK CI) & Dr Jérôme Boulanger (MRC LMB)

A promising research field is the use of whole-body non-invasive optical and
opto-acoustic imaging modalities to select the most effective cancer
treatment at an early stage. The speaker will discuss how a specific cell death
probe, C2Am, can be used to detect the early responses of cancer cells to
therapy using macroscopic imaging.

Another hot topic that will be presented is computational microscopy.
Examples of how extended sensitivity and resolution can be achieved by using computational methods will be discussed, together with new algorithms that increase the capability of fluorescence microscopes and provide insight into the dynamics of molecular complexes.

This week we also have a Stratech Rep with some relevant products that will be on display, and you will be able to chat with him during the break!

To be held at the PdOC Centre, Mill Lane (http://www.pdoc.cam.ac.uk/findus)
