Inactivation of phosphoinositide-3-OH kinase δ as a possible cancer treatment in Nature this week

Phosphoinositide-3-OH kinase δ restrains the anti-tumour immune response by promoting the action of suppressive immune cells

Dalya Soond, Ee Lyn LimHicham BouabeMartin TurnerKlaus Okkenhaug and co-authors have found that inactivation of PI(3)K p110δ breaks regulatory T-cell-mediated immune tolerance to cancer and published this in Nature this week. The possible implications for cancer treatment are discussed in a commentary by Hirsch and Novelli.
