Research

Managing research projects at the JDRF/Wellcome Trust Diabetes and inflammation Laboratory.  Our aim is to further characterise the molecular basis of type 1 diabetes. We use a combination of genetics, statistics, genome informatics and data mining, and gene expression and immunological studies.  Our major goal now is to correlate susceptibility genotypes with biomarkers and phenotypes.  Immunological studies are underpinning the next major phase of our research beginning in 2013: undertaking clinical studies and trials in patients with type 1 diabetes.
