Dr Neda Farahi

Research Interests

My research focus is to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms controlling inflammatory processes with a view to help develop novel strategies for inflammatory diseases. Although eosinophilic granulocytes are key effector cells in host defence against invading parasites, over-recruitment, uncontrolled activation and defective removal of these cells plays a major role in the initiation and propagation of inflammatory conditions including asthma and allergic rhinitis. I am currently investigating eosinophil trafficking in humans and specifically examining the size and distribution of marginating eosinophil pools, the half-life of the eosinophil in blood and its ultimate fate.
