The University of Oxford, Department of Paediatrics, is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Oxford Vaccine Group (OVG), based at the Centre of Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine (CCVTM).

The overall objective of the post is to support the development and introduction of typhoid vaccines into populations with a high burden of disease. The postholder will investigate the immune mechanisms involved during bacterial disease in humans, identify correlates of immune protection as well as aim to translate the findings from human clinical studies and trials into diagnostics. You will develop assays to measure serological and/or cellular responses to infection as well as functional immune correlates of vaccine efficacy. You will be responsible for developing specific projects using samples from clinical trials, developing research objectives and proposals, and coordinating internal and external project collaborations.

You will have a relevant PhD and experience in immunological research. You will have knowledge and experience of a wide range of techniques including analysis of serological, and cellular immune responses, including flow cytometry. You will be self-driven, highly motivated and have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills as the post involves collaboration within several groups and consortia.

This is initially a 12 month fixed-term contract, extension likely but it is subject to external funding available.
