Research Interests

  • Systems Immunology: I develop integrative computational approaches to understand the biology of Innate Immunity, Inflammation and Cancer at a Systems level. Specifically, we  study Interferons and other innate immune modulators that play important roles in both health and disease. The IFNs mediate their multiple functions by regulating a set of  genes known as interferon stimulated genes (ISGs). In order to understand the  impact of IFNs in disease we built INTERFEROME, a database of IFN regulated genes and InterferonScape, an integrative web based systems biology application developed to investigate ISG pathways, networks and regulation in different biomedical datasets. We generate our own systems level genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and epigenetic datasets, and integrating and mining these using statistical & computational methods we are unravelling the complexities of innate immune responses in cancer and other diseases.
  • Pathway Bioinformatics and Network Biology: I use computational modelling of biological pathways and networks utilizing high-throughput biomedical data-sets to understand signalling, interaction, regulation, information flow and connectivity at the systems level. I'm investigating pathways and networks in innate immunity, cancer, apoptosis and cellular senescence.
