Research
Supervisor: Dr Clare Bryant
My research investigates the role of inflammasome activation in the host defense against Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium). The inflammasome is a multimeric protein platform that processes members of the IL-1 family, pro-IL-1β and pro-IL-18, into their mature forms. I am interested in investigating the activation and formation of the inflammasome to understand how this complex controls bacterial numbers in macrophages infected with S. Typhimurium.
